Barrett

The name’s Barrett Callahan. Yeah, that Barrett Callahan—the one the press dubbed “Bare” after those naked sexting pictures surfaced. At twenty-five, I was armed with an MBA from Harvard, an executive position at my father’s Fortune 500 company, a penthouse, and a different piece of delectable eye candy in my bed every weekend. I had a life most men dreamed of. But then my father decided to run for president, and my playboy lifestyle became a liability to his campaign that was built on family values. My “makeover” comes in the form of a fake fiancée who I don’t even get to choose–one who is an uptight, choirgirl acting priss but also sexy-as-hell.

Addison

My latest relationship had gone down in flames, and I was drowning in a sea of student loans when in true Godfather status, James Callahan made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. Seven figures for seven months on the campaign trail pretending to be the adoring fiancée of his son, Barrett. As soon as he won the election, our engagement would be dissolved amicably for the press, I was free to ride off into the sunset a million dollars richer, and because of the NDA, no one would be the wiser. Sure, I’d never met the guy, but I’d been a theater nerd in high school. I could pull off any role from Lady Macbeth to Maria Von Trapp. But that was before I met my fake fiancé—the infuriating, self-absorbed, egotistical, drop-dead-sexy King of the Manwhores.

The race will be a fight to the death finish, and that’s not even the actual campaign.

Review – Politically Incorrect by Jeanne McDonald

Young couple flirting with legs at the restaurant under the tableRelease Date: August 16, 2016

Sex. Lies. Greed. Power. Scandal. Politics.

Political strategist, Elizabeth McNeal has been called a lot of things throughout her career—bitch being at the top of the list—but she doesn’t let it get to her. She’s bold, she’s blunt, and she takes orders from no one. This is how she’s survived working in a man’s world. She’s the master of diversion, and her specialty is winning an election—no matter the cost.

That is, until she meets her new client, Democratic candidate, Congressman William Baxter. Kind, considerate, insanely handsome, honest, and ten years her junior, he’s a unicorn among politicians. He infuriates her. He challenges her. Most of all, he makes her see past the scandalous world of politics and helps her to discover the heart of the woman inside her.

With sparks flying between them and the election rapidly approaching, the last thing either of them need is to be caught in a compromising position. Some lines are meant to be crossed and some rules broken, but for Elizabeth and Liam is it worth the cost of being politically incorrect?

BFF K’s Review of Politically Incorrect

rating_4_80

I’m a sucker for a political romance and this one delivers a powerful storyline that is sure to please the pickiest pundit. (sorry, I couldn’t resist that alliteration!)

Elizabeth McNeal is the real deal! She’s a strong, smart, savvy political operative that knows the best moves to make to make sure her clients come out on the winning side of every race. When she meets William (Liam) Baxter, politics are no longer the most important thing in her life. William is that rare politician who speaks with honesty, means what he says, and truly wants to make the country better. (I long for a real life Liam Baxter!) Elizabeth wants to help him win a coveted spot in the US Senate; but she is pretty sure she wants to win the spot warming up his bed just as badly. Their immediate and undeniable attraction creates some fabulous angst-filled moments. Elizabeth is also a few years older than Liam. This fact bothers her much more than it does Liam, but it’s part of what leads to the angst that drives the storyline. The story is packed full of drama and some interesting characters, making you wonder “who can be trusted in the political-snakes-den?”

Politically Incorrect is a quick read, full of interesting plotlines and intriguing characters. There are also more than a couple of super steamy scenes to deliver all the feels! If you’re a fan of Political Romance, this should be a definite one-click release for you!

Review – Red Blooded by Caitlin Sinead

Red_Blooded_final_cover (1)

Instead of eating ramen and meeting frat guys like most college freshmen, Peyton Arthur is on the campaign trail. Traveling with her mother, the Democratic pick for vice president, she’s ordering room service, sneaking glances at cute campaign intern Dylan and deflecting interview questions about the tragic loss of her father. But when a reporter questions her paternity, her world goes into a tailspin.

Dylan left Yale and joined the campaign to make a difference, not keep tabs on some girl. But with the paternity scandal blowing up and Peyton asking questions, he’s been tasked to watch her every move. As he gets to know the real Peyton, he finds it harder and harder to keep a professional distance.

When the media demands a story, Peyton and Dylan give them one—a fake relationship. As they work together to investigate the rumors about her real father and Peyton gets closer to learning the truth, she’s also getting closer to Dylan. And suddenly, it’s not just her past on the line anymore. It’s her heart.

I love a good political plot and Red Blooded by Caitlin Sinead delivered loads of happiness! This is a coming of age story set with the backdrop of a political campaign. Peyton’s mother is the United States Vice Presidential Candidate in the middle of a contentious campaign. Peyton’s father was a best selling author who wrote a book about life and death as he was dying of cancer. The whole world feels as though they know Peyton even as she’s trying to figure out who she is.

Most chapters in Red Blooded begin with what is supposed to be an excerpt from Peyton’s father’s book. It’s typically an anecdote about something funny or poignant from their lives. I LOVED this part. These snippets perfectly set the scene for each chapter and kept the book moving along. And, I really felt as though these insights were critical to the story, the plot and the characters. I found them clever and moving and insightful. And, FYI (Caitlyn Sinead, I’m talking to you) – if that was actually a book written about life and dying, I would totally read it! Well done!

Dylan is a good guy, pulled from the hustle and bustle of the campaign trail (which he loves) to assist Peyton with her media and campaign related tasks. He has a heck of a time keeping her and her inquisitive nature out of trouble. He struggles with his need to be a professional political operative and his growing care for Peyton. The bulk of the story centers around a mystery over the true identity of Peyton’s father. Her curiosity is peaked and she spends the majority of the book on a journey to discover the truth. Peyton is a strong, new adult, female character with poise and grace and intelligence. Her humanity and authenticity made the book come alive.

Red Blooded is a quick read, but it doesn’t skimp on the character development. If you enjoy political plot lines, you’ll definitely delight in this well crafted story!

Review – The Phoenix Candidate by Heidi Joy Tretheway

tpc-blog-tour-graphic

 the-phoenix-candidate-medium

Fans of Scandal, House of Cards, and The Good Wife will love Grace Colton…

Congresswoman Grace Colton is the most famous woman in politics—and the loneliest—until a drawling, sexy stranger offers her one night, no strings and no regrets.

Grace wakes to an empty hotel room and a phone call: the dark horse for the 2016 presidential election, Senator Shep Conover, is considering her as his vice presidential running mate. But first, Grace must be vetted and coached by Shep’s political consultant, Jared Rankin, who already knows too many intimate details about her. He’s Mr. One-Night Stand.

Grace is torn: Play nice with Jared to join the senator’s ticket, or play hardball and back the slick frontrunner? Grace must decide where her loyalties lie and if she can trust Jared with her future—and her heart.

The Phoenix Candidate is an erotic romance set in the world of presidential election politics. Recommended for mature readers due to sharp dialogue, wickedly hot sex, and a few delicious taboos. This full-length novel is first in a series and can be read as a standalone.

BFF K’s Review

The minute that I finished the Phoenix Candidate, I did something I don’t do very often, I emailed the author! I absolutely had to tell Heidi Joy Tretheway how much I loved her book. It is fantastic, full of smart, richly developed characters and a story line that I LOVED!

I have a strange interest and fascination with politics and have since 1980 when I got to vote in a mock election for US President in Kindergarten! I started volunteering for campaigns when I was in Jr. High. I’ve worked for 2 US Senators and behind the scenes of a few campaigns in various capacities. So much of The Phoenix Candidate is just spot on – I really really really loved it! (And, if you’re not a dorky political wonk since Kindergarten, never fear, Tretheway does a fantastic job of explaining the votes and totals and electoral college ramifications so that it’s easy to understand!)

This is an entertaining novel, not a civics lesson. The twists and turns the story takes are really interesting. They’re also written with intention, some of the scenes might happen “in real life”, some might not. But, it all makes for a absolutely intriguing storyline. I so wish that we could end up with an election that would come down to a final decision, between good candidates, at the party convention! The book is written in many ways to reflect the kind of people, candidates and elections that I wish would really exist! And there are some antagonists that I KNOW exist in the real world!

Oh and I may have forgotten to mention that there are some super-hot, downright steamy scenes between Grace and Jared. Holy Hotness!!!!

I was loving the book, wondering how it would end and if anything would come next. Then, I read the first chapter for the Phoenix Campaign at the end of this book…I’m floored and I can’t wait to read more about Grace and Jared!!!

Strongly developed characters, steamy scenes, a fantastic-feisty heroine and just enough suspense to keep you turning the pages….this book is fantastic, I definitely recommend you one-click!
