Review – Roman Crazy by Alice Clayton and Nina Bocci

We’re so thrilled to bring you BFF K’s Review of Roman Crazy by Alice Clayton and Nina Bocci! You’re gonna LOVE this book!

Avery Bardot steps off the plane in Rome, looking for a fresh start. She’s left behind a soon-to-be ex-husband in Boston and plans to spend the summer with her best friend Daisy—away from home and licking her wounds…and perhaps a gelato or two. But when Daisy, an American expat now living in Rome, throws her a welcome party on her first night, Avery’s thrown for a loop. She falls, quite literally, at the feet of a man she never thought she’d see again: Italian architect Marcello Bianchi.

Marcello is a man from her past—the man, the one who got away. And now her past is colliding with her present, a present where she should be mourning the loss of her marriage and the life she once had and—hey, that fettuccine is delicious.

And so is Marcello…

Avery slips easily into the good life that is summertime in Rome. She spends her days exploring a city that would make art historians swoon, and her nights swooning over a whirlwind what was old is new again romance. It’s heady, it’s fevered, it’s wanton, and it’s crazy. But could it really be her life? Or is it just a temporary reprieve before returning to the land of twinset cardigans and crustless sandwiches?

This is a dream team! Alice Clayton and Nina Bocci have paired up to deliver an absolutely wonderful, heart-warming, sweet and steamy story of second-chance love. And you need to read it!

The first chapter is so fantastic; this story bursts out of the gates and introduces you to Avery, the fantastic heroine. Her soon-to-be ex-husband and his mother are something else! When her world turns upside down, Avery escapes to Rome and the comfort of her best friend, Daisy. It takes just hours for Avery to get knocked on her a$% (literally) by the one man she thought she would never see again. Enter Marcello, one of my favorite Book Boyfriends of 2016! He’s everything you hope for: a strong, sweet, seductive, hunky hero. And, you’ll find yourself falling just as quickly as Avery.

Roman Crazy is a wild ride of ups and downs as Marcello and Avery rediscover one another, put their past in its place and determine if and how they can move forward together. The book is chock-full of wonderful supporting characters. The sites, sounds and tastes of Rome are so beautifully described that the city becomes another character in this already superb cast. Roman Crazy is full of romance, friendships and self-discovery. Second-chance love is one of my most favorite Romance tropes and Roman Crazy is one of the best!

BFF K’s Review of An Unforgivable Love Story

I had the opportunity to meet BL Berry at the Scripted Social Book Signing this year in Des Moines, IA. She was so sweet and wonderful, I was looking forward to reading one of her books. When the opportunity to review this Audiobook came along, I jumped at the chance without knowing anything about the story. Was I in for a WILD ride?!?!

I’ve been thinking about this book for 2 days trying to decide what I think about it! I’ve concluded that this was a really good book with some VERY unexpected twists. There’s not much that I can say without giving away MAJOR plot points. But, know that this book has a seriously significant mind-f#$% and an unexpected villain (or two.) The fact that I’ve been thinking this book just shows that it’s got some staying power!

I enjoyed the audio, especially the last 40%. I’ll admit, in the beginning, I was annoyed with the narrator. The first character sounded a little breathy and the inflection bothered me a bit. I couldn’t understand the reasoning behind the characterization. But, one of the twists proved why this was necessary. While I still didn’t love the vocal choice, I understood it. And, the story is strong enough to pull the listener through a rough audio issue or two.

If you’re looking for a book that will knock you to your knees and make you feel love and hate and hate and hope (and maybe a little more hate) An Unforgivable Love Story is a great choice! Cheers to B.L. Berry for a really surprising and enjoyable story!

About the Author

BL Berry grew up telling lies. Eventually, those lies turned into elaborate stories and when she grew older she started writing them down. When she’s not hiding behind her computer writing, you can find her spending time with her family or catching up on her favorite TV shows. Rumor has it she’ll sleep when she’s dead.

Residing outside of Kansas City, she lives with her husband, two children and black pug. Review – The Angels’ Share by J.R. Ward

#1 New York Times bestselling author J. R. Ward delivers the second novel in her Bourbon Kings series—a sweeping saga of a Southern dynasty struggling to maintain a facade of privilege and prosperity, while secrets and indiscretions threaten its very foundation…

In Charlemont, Kentucky, the Bradford family is the crème de la crème of high society—just like their exclusive brand of bourbon. And their complicated lives and vast estate are run by a discrete staff who inevitably become embroiled in their affairs. This is especially true now, when the apparent suicide of the family patriarch is starting to look more and more like murder…

No one is above suspicion—especially the eldest Bradford son, Edward. The bad blood between him and his father is known far and wide, and he is aware that he could be named a suspect. As the investigation into the death intensifies, he keeps himself busy at the bottom of a bottle—as well as with his former horse trainer’s daughter. Meanwhile, the family’s financial future lies in the perfectly manicured hands of a business rival, a woman who wants Edward all to herself.

Everything has consequences; everybody has secrets. And few can be trusted. Then, at the very brink of the family’s demise, someone thought lost to them forever returns to the fold. Maxwell Bradford has come home. But is he a savior…or the worst of all the sinners?

BFF K’s Review of The Angels’ Share

rating_5_80

The Bourbon Kings Series has absolutely EVERYTHING I love! There is emotion, drama, romance, love, redemption and sacrifice. There is so much to appreciate about  the characters and the entire world that J.R. Ward has created. I almost don’t know where to begin. While so much was revealed in Book #2 of the Bourbon Kings Series, there are even more questions left to ponder at the end.

The Angels’ Share picks up directly where The Bourbon Kings left off. The Bradford Baldwines are in a HOT MESS! There was a suicide…or was it murder? And, there’s a whole lot of money that’s no where to be found. Lane and Lizzie are a united front working tirelessly to get to the bottom of the whole mess. Lane’s transformation is one of my favorite parts of this series. Edward, Sutton and Shelby take center stage and the dynamic is so juicy and fulfilling. Gin has herself in quite a mess, but wow do we see a different side of her. And, Samual T. — seriously, I have a whole new outlook on the man. I will read this series for a conclusion to that storyline alone. Maxwell makes his mysterious appearance and Amelia returns to Easterly. The Angel’s Share is full of so many great characters; some from book #1 and some new ones. These nuanced characters make you wonder who is good and who is evil; and sometimes they are a little bit of both.

J.R. Ward has crafted a timeless series that has left me emotionally wrought and thoroughly invested.  One of my favorite parts of these books is the unexpected humor and pop culture references that creep up when you’re least expecting it. The phrasing and little “life lessons” hidden in the pages are really remarkable. The next book in the Bourbon Kings Series can not come soon enough for me. If you want an epic tale with deep plot-lines, fascinating characters and idyllic settings, The Bourbon Kings is the series for you. Don’t let anything stop you from jumping into this series. It’s everything!

Excerpt

Toyota trucks were not supposed to go seventy-five miles an hour. Especially when they were ten years old.

At least the driver was wide awake, even though it was four a.m.

Lizzie King had a death grip on the steering wheel, and her foot on the accelerator was actually catching floor as she headed for a rise in the highway.

She had woken up in her bed at her farmhouse alone. Ordinarily, that would have been the status quo, but not anymore, not now that Lane was back in her life. The wealthy playboy and the estate’s gardener had finally gotten their act together, love bonding two unlikelies closer and stronger than the molecules of a diamond.

And she was going to stand by him, no matter what the future held.

After all, it was so much easier to give up extraordinary wealth when you had never known it, never aspired to it—and especially when you had seen behind its glittering curtain to the sad, desolate desert on the far side of the glamour and prestige.

God, the stress Lane was under.

And so out of bed she had gotten. Down the creaking stairs she had gone. And all around her little house’s first floor she had wandered.

When Lizzie had looked outside, she’d discovered his car was missing, the Porsche he drove and parked beside the maple by her front porch nowhere to be seen. And as she had wondered why he had left without telling her, she had begun to worry.

Just a matter of nights since his father had killed himself, only a matter of days since William Baldwine’s body had been found on the far side of the Falls of the Ohio. And ever since then Lane’s face had had a faraway look, his mind churning always with the missing money, the divorce papers he had served on the rapacious Chantal, the status of the household bills, the precarious situation at the Bradford Bourbon Company, his brother Edward’s terrible physical condition, Miss Aurora’s illness.

But he hadn’t said a thing about any of it. His insomnia had been the only sign of the pressure, and that was what scared her. Lane always made an effort to be composed around her, asking her about her work in Easterly’s gardens, rubbing her bad shoulder, making her dinner, usually badly, but who cared. Ever since they had gotten the air cleared between them and had fully recommitted to their relationship, he had all but moved into her farmhouse—and as much as she loved having him with her, she had been waiting for the implosion to occur.

It would almost have been easier if he had been ranting and raving.

And now she feared that time had come—and some sixth sense made her terrified about where he had gone. Easterly, the Bradford Family Estate, was the first place she thought of. Or maybe the Old Site, where his family’s bourbon was still made and stored. Or perhaps Miss Aurora’s Baptist church?

Yes, Lizzie had tried him on his phone. And when the thing had rung on the table on his side of the bed, she hadn’t waited any longer after that. Clothes on. Keys in hand. Out to the truck.

No one else was on I-64 as she headed for the bridge to get across the river, and she kept the gas on even as she crested the hill and hit the decline to the river’s edge on the Indiana side. In response, her old truck picked up even more speed along with a death rattle that shook the wheel and the seat, but the damn Toyota was going to hold it together because she needed it to.

“Lane . . . where are you?”

God, all the times she had asked him how he was and he’d said, “Fine.” All those opportunities to talk that he hadn’t taken her up on. All the glances she’d shot him when he hadn’t been looking her way, all the time her monitoring for signs of cracking or strain. And yet there had been little to no emotion after that one moment they’d had together in the garden, that private, sacred moment when she had sought him out under the blooms of the fruit trees and told him that she’d gotten it wrong about him, that she had misjudged him, that she was prepared to make a pledge to him with the only thing she had: the deed to her farmhouse—which was exactly the kind of asset that could be sold to help pay for the lawyers’ fees as he fought to save his family.

Lane had held her, and told her he loved her—and refused her gift, explaining he was going to fix everything himself, that he was going to somehow find the stolen money, pay back the enormous debt, right the company, resurrect his family’s fortunes.

And she had believed him.

She still did.

But ever since then? He had been both as warm and closed off as a space heater, physically present and completely disengaged at the same time.

Lizzie did not blame him in the slightest.

It was strangely terrifying, however.

Off in the distance, across the river, Charlemont’s business district glowed and twinkled, a false, earthbound galaxy that was a lovely lie, and the bridge that connected the two shores was still lit up in spring green and bright pink for Derby, a preppy rainbow to that promised land. The good news was that there was no traffic, so as soon as Lizzie was on the other side, she could take the River Road exit off the highway, shoot north to Easterly’s hill, and see if his car was parked in front of the mansion.

Then she didn’t know what she was going to do.

The newly constructed bridge had three lanes going in both directions, the concrete median separating east from west tall and broad for safety purposes. There were rows of white lights down the middle, and everything was shiny, not just from the illumination, but a lack of exposure to the elements. Construction had only finished in March, and the first lines of traffic had made the crossing in early April, cutting rush-hour delays down—

Up ahead, parked in what was actually the “slow” lane, was a vehicle that her brain recognized before her eyes properly focused on it.

Lane’s Porsche. It was Lane’s—

Lizzie nailed the brake pedal harder than she’d been pounding the accelerator, and the truck made the transition from full-force forward to full-on stop with the grace of a sofa falling out a second-story window: Everything shuddered and shook, on the verge of structural disintegration, and worse, there was barely any change in velocity, as if her Toyota had worked too hard to gain the speed and wasn’t going to let the momentum go without a fight—

There was a figure on the edge of the bridge. On the very farthest edge of the bridge. On the lip of the bridge over the deadly drop.

“Lane,” she screamed. “Lane!”

Her truck went into a spin, pirouetting such that she had to wrench her head around to keep him in her sights. And she jumped out before the Toyota came to a full stop, leaving the gearshift in neutral, the engine running, the door open in her wake.

“Lane! No! Lane!”

Lizzie pounded across the pavement and surmounted barriers that seemed flimsy, too flimsy, given the distance down to the river.

Lane jerked his head around—

And lost one hold of the rail behind him.

As his grip slipped, shock registered on his face, a flash of surprise . . . that was immediately replaced by horror.

When he fell off into nothing but air.

Lizzie’s mouth could not open wide enough to release her scream.

WARNING

cliffhanger

They’ve done it again! The evil geniuses behind the Royals Series have left me #RoyallyRuinedAGAIN! I said this after Paper Princess and I’ll say it again: I don’t typically post the cliffhanger warning at the beginning of my review, but I’m doing this as a public service… I don’t want the warning to hold you back from devouring the first two books in this series; I just want you to know what you’re in for! #RuinedbyRoyals

I don’t want to say too much, so I’m going to err on the side of not giving away much AT ALL! No Spoilers here!

Jennifer Armentrout has been quoted as saying the Royals Series is, “This generation’s Cruel Intentions.” I completely agree, but it’s even better! There is romance, angst, revenge, corruption and power struggles…and those are just inside the gates of Astor Park Prep School. This family is so deliciously f-ed up! You want to love them and hurt them all at the same time.

I devoured this book in an afternoon and that’s saying something. I couldn’t wait to see what was was coming next and now I’m completely stressed out about having to wait until October to know what happens next! Elle Kennedy and Jen Frederick are masterful at delivering this world full of wickedness and deception. Their cliffhangers are threatening to kill me, but I’ll happily climb over this ledge anytime!

Another wingman bites the dust in this enemies to lovers story…

Welcome to Daisypalooza! In the month of July, Daisy Prescott is releasing TWO full-length, stand-alone novels and a short story. It’s obviously my birthday month, but this year = presents for everyone!

Anything But Love is the latest installment in the Wingmen series set on Whidbey Island. In Anything But Love, we find Erik Kelso exposed by a viral photo that has turned his life upside down. He’s fresh meat for every cougar on the Island (and beyond.) The open oglings, by a variety of the islands older ladies, are some of the book’s most deliciously raucous scenes! Enter Cari Caldwell, Erik’s new nemesis. Her role in his new found fame has Erik frustrated in every possible way.

What ensues is an absolutely fantastic, enemies-to-friends Rom Com! Anything But Love is LOL-funny! Not just LOL, but seriously Laugh Out Loud through every chapter! My highlighter got a workout highlighting all of the LOL scenes. It felt like there was something hilarious on every page.

Anything But Love is charming, sweet, heart-warming, clever and playful. The characters are entertaining and relatable. This is another trip to Whidbey that makes you want to pick up and move to Washington. There are some great cameo appearances by John Day and Tom Donnely (Diane and Hailey too!) If you haven’t read the other Wingmen books; you’ll love these characters and then want to read their books asap!

This book made me giddy and oh so happy! I guarantee it will put a smile on the face of every rom-com lover. It’s a definite one-click!

BFF K’s Review of Palm South University Season 2 – Episode 6

rating_5_80

I’m tired….Palm South University, Season 2 has worn me out! I feel as though I’ve experienced the entire range of potential human emotions reading through these episodes. I also know that Kandi Steiner has outdone herself. Her writing in this series/season is fresh and spot-on. Steiner captures the unique attributes and quirks of each character while building the University setting with scenes and experiences that are quintessential to college life.

Season 2 – Episode 6 is an absolute roller-coaster for my beloved co-eds. Adam and Cassie are dancing an intricate Tango, but someone is bound to get their toes stepped on. Ashlei is lucky to have some really incredible girlfriends. She will need those friends as she tries to figure out what her life looks like moving forward. Jess redeems herself from Episode 5, I’m not angry with her anymore. Speaking of Jess, she and Jarrett have some resolution….for now. Skyler is really the even keel that keeps everything together and moving forward.

The scenes in this episode that surprised me the most are from Bear and Erin. I don’t want to give anything away…..Let’s just say there are some life-altering experiences for both of them. Bear proves himself to be a true man of character, honor and loyalty. (Take that Shawna!) Bear and Erin will never be the same after Episode 6. 😰

Season 2 – Episode 6 elicited every possible emotion from me. I feel wrung out and hung to dry. I’m so anxious for Season 3, but I’m pretty sure I need some time to come to terms with the insanity and emotion packed Season 2. Kandi Steiner has written a must-read series for me. I’m wholly invested in the lives and loves of the Palm South University crew. I feel like I want to hibernate until Season 3! I have no more words, just one-click today.

Excerpt

As our smiles settle, I grip the glass a little tighter. “I didn’t come here to celebrate.”

“I figured,” she responds, eyes on her own hands. “Listen, I get it. It was Spring Break, we were both drinking. It’s all good.”

I cock a brow, setting my glass down on the kitchen island. It’s Sunday night and the house is mostly quiet, save for the faint sound of giggling coming from the rooms upstairs.

“It wasn’t a mistake, Cassie. It wasn’t an accident or a drunken decision. Ever since I kissed you at the concert last semester, I’ve wanted to do it again.”

She wants me to apologize for the kiss. She thinks I regret it. I don’t.

“How can you say that?” she asks, green eyes wide. “You were with Skyler.”

“I know, I know.” I pinch the bridge of my nose, not really knowing how to explain what I need to. “It’s not that I didn’t care for her — that I don’t still care for her. But I also care about you. And that night on the beach, it was like the biggest moment of clarity for me.”

Cassie drops her glass to the counter and brings her fingernails to her teeth, nibbling, eyes on the tile floor.

“You can’t do this, Adam. I mean, what are you even asking me?” Her voice is shaky when she finally speaks.

“I don’t know.” I sigh, knowing none of this is coming out right. But what do I really expect? I was dating her Big Sister just a few short weeks ago and now, what? I’m going to ask her to be with me? “I guess I’m just saying that I get what you said at the Fratalina Wine Mixer now.” I shrug, lifting my eyes to hers. “You confuse me, too.”

Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic (like most girls brought up on Disney movies). When Kandi isn’t working or writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys beach days, movie marathons, live music, craft beer and sweet wine – not necessarily in that order.

Review – Paper Princess by Erin Watt

From strip clubs and truck stops to southern coast mansions and prep schools, one girl tries to stay true to herself.

These Royals will ruin you…

Ella Harper is a survivor―a pragmatic optimist. She’s spent her whole life moving from town to town with her flighty mother, struggling to make ends meet and believing that someday she’ll climb out of the gutter. After her mother’s death, Ella is truly alone.

Until Callum Royal appears, plucking Ella out of poverty and tossing her into his posh mansion among his five sons who all hate her. Each Royal boy is more magnetic than the last, but none as captivating as Reed Royal, the boy who is determined to send her back to the slums she came from.

Reed doesn’t want her. He says she doesn’t belong with the Royals.

He might be right.

Wealth. Excess. Deception. It’s like nothing Ella has ever experienced, and if she’s going to survive her time in the Royal palace, she’ll need to learn to issue her own Royal decrees.

WARNING

cliffhanger

I don’t typically post the cliffhanger warning at the beginning of my review, but I’m doing this as a public service. I wish that someone would have given me this warning before I started Paper Princess. I don’t want the warning to hold you back from devouring this book; I just want you to know what you’re in for! #RuinedbyRoyals

I’m struggling to find words to express just how much I LOVE this book. This is a read-until-2am, dream-about-the-characters, sneak-a-read-at-the-stoplight kind of book!

There is SO much happening in Book #1 of the Royals Series. Ella Harper finds herself in an entirely new world. The Royals lifestyle is so foreign that they might as well be living on a different planet. The bulk of this book introduces us to the characters and the drama that surrounds them. Paper Princess reads very much like a drama-filled, new adult, soap opera. The majority of characters are young, smoking-hot, ridiculously wealthy, spoiled and troubled. Ella scrambles to decide if she’s better off trying to fit in or survive by observing from the outside.

Ella is not welcomed into her new family with open arms; it’s more like open hostility. She moves through the book with one foot in their world and the other foot poised to run at a moment’s notice. Her relationships with each of the Royal men are unique, complex and absolutely mesmerizing. But, her relationship with Reed Royal is something else!

I am #RoyallyRuined. I am dying for the next book in this series. There are so many sketchy things happening in this family and their social circles. I need to know if Ella will be able to find her way through the swamp or drown in their sludge. Book #2 can’t arrive on my Kindle soon enough!

Review – Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid

From the acclaimed author of Forever, Interrupted and After I Do comes a breathtaking new novel about a young woman whose fate hinges on the choice she makes after bumping into an old flame; in alternating chapters, we see two possible scenarios unfold—with stunningly different results.

At the age of twenty-nine, Hannah Martin still has no idea what she wants to do with her life. She has lived in six different cities and held countless meaningless jobs since graduating college. On the heels of leaving yet another city, Hannah moves back to her hometown of Los Angeles and takes up residence in her best friend Gabby’s guestroom. Shortly after getting back to town, Hannah goes out to a bar one night with Gabby and meets up with her high school boyfriend, Ethan.

Just after midnight, Gabby asks Hannah if she’s ready to go. A moment later, Ethan offers to give her a ride later if she wants to stay. Hannah hesitates. What happens if she leaves with Gabby? What happens if she leaves with Ethan?

In concurrent storylines, Hannah lives out the effects of each decision. Quickly, these parallel universes develop into radically different stories with large-scale consequences for Hannah, as well as the people around her. As the two alternate realities run their course, Maybe in Another Life raises questions about fate and true love: Is anything meant to be? How much in our life is determined by chance? And perhaps, most compellingly: Is there such a thing as a soul mate?

Hannah believes there is. And, in both worlds, she believes she’s found him.

This is why I LOVE book signings! I had seen other bloggers talking about Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid and I thought it sounded interesting. I had seen it was a People Mag recommendation, but I wasn’t sure if I had time to read it. When I found out that the author would be attending Austin Book Fest, I made sure to put this book in my queue to read and I am so, so, so glad that I did!

Apparently there is a theory of physics that says for every decision we make in this universe a version of ourselves makes a different decision in another universe and our futures play out very differently. Maybe in Another Life introduces us to Hannah Martin. She’s been living a nomadic and unsettled life. She returns to LA where she grew up and spent her childhood. During her first night back at a gathering of friends, she is faced with a choice. Stay and spend time with her first love/high school boyfriend or go home with her best friend, Gabby. The rest of the book plays out those two choices in alternating chapters.

Maybe in Another Life is fascinating and engaging and absolutely delightful. The characters are complex and authentic. One of the ways I gauge a book is the impact has on me. Do I immediately want to shout about it to everyone I see? Do the characters or the premise stay with me long after the story ends? In this case, the answer to all of those questions is YES, YES, YES!

Jenkins Reid has written an absolutely fabulous tale of searching for your destiny and future. The ultimate conclusion is that you can decide to create your own happiness in whatever circumstances you choose. I can’t recommend this book strongly enough, it has a firm place on my “must read” list for anyone who asks!

Duo Review – Incendiary by Amy A. Bartol

WINNER OF THE 2013 UTOPYA AWARDS FOR BEST VILLAIN & BEST BOOK COVER OF THE YEAR

Cold, fine drops of rain fall softly on my cheeks as I emerge from the darkness of the ship’s interior to the gray, overcast sky of the main deck. Pulling my dark pea coat tighter to my body, the wind lifts red tendrils of my hair. I walk slowly to the railing overlooking the water.

I catch my first sight of the Irish coastline; its craggy landscape makes me shiver in dread. I find it difficult to imagine now how the Gancanagh had made this their home for so long without anyone realizing it. The cold, moss-covered edifices practically scream their presence. As I study the shadows between the falling-down stone, I imagine creeping shapes of undead Faeries grasping the rock, waiting for our ship to draw nearer to their position.

Tipping my face up, I let the rain wash over me. It bathes away the frigid sweat of fear that has broken on my brow. “You don’t know how fiercely beautiful you are, do you?” A quiet voice behind me asks, causing me to stiffen and fix my eyes on the rocks along the shoreline.

As one of Ann and Kiersten’s real life BFF’s, Missy has been subjected to countless hours of book discussions! Over the years there is NO other series that has generated as much discussion between Missy and Kiersten as the Premonition Series by Amy Bartol. It is one of our most favorites and we love it more than is really healthy.

The 5th and FINAL book in the Premonition Series, Iniquity, will be released on December 8. In advance of this exciting event, I asked Missy to join me for another guest edition of the Duo Review to share our thoughts on this incredible series! Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be sharing our thoughts with you about the awesomeness that is the Premonition Series!

This is the book where s#$% got real. The End.

Just kidding….mostly…..this book is so hard to describe and review without giving away so many many details.

There’s another new character that shakes the foundation for Russell, Evie and Reed. Anya rocks. She is a fantastic character and a terrific addition to the mix. This is also the book where we meet both Evie’s father and her long time guardian. These two characters also mix up the dynamics and change the game.

Incendiary is really about unraveling and clarifying the missions and separating the characters to define them and their relationships to one another. This book is where we see Evie begin to embrace her powers and accept her mission no matter the reasons behind it.

There are really not enough usable words in the English language to tell you how fantastic this series is and all of the reasons you should read it. This is the series that convinced me (BFF K) I do love paranormal romance.

About the Author

I live in Michigan with my husband and our two sons. My family is very supportive of my writing. When I’m writing, they often bring me the take-out menu so that I can call and order them dinner. They listen patiently when I talk about my characters like they’re real. They rarely roll their eyes when I tell them I’ll only be a second while I finish writing a chapter…and then they take off their coats. They ask me how the story is going when I surface after living for hours in a world of my own making. They have learned to accept my “writing uniform” consisting of a slightly unflattering pink fleece jacket, t-shirt, and black yoga pants. And they smile at my nerdy bookishness whenever I try to explain urban fantasy to them. In short, they get me, so they are perfect and I am blessed. Duo Review – Indebted by Amy A. Bartol

I hang my head in sorrow for just a moment when I know I am truly alone. I feel like I’m going to my execution, just as he had said. Then I move forward again. I hop a fence of fieldstone and cross a field dotted with Queen Anne’s lace. Goose bumps rise on my arms as I pass the cluster of windmills that I have seen in a dream. The scent is sweet in the field though, not the scent of heat, like it had been when it was forced upon me in visions. I gaze down the hill, beyond the small, whitewashed house that I knew would be there. The church looms dark and grim with its rough-hewn, timber façade, capped by tall, oblong spires reaching to the sky. Black, ominous clouds have collected above the roofline, as if Heaven is showing me the way.

Evie opens up a whole can of new abilities in Book #3 AND her inherent need to protect those she loves is the driving force in her decisions in this installment of the Premonition series.

Brennus is still hanging out causing trouble and there is a whole cast of new creatures and nightmares. This book includes more narration from Russell’s point of view. It is so interesting to see things as they unfold but from a different perspective.

Reed realizes that his attempts to protect Evie sometimes leave her at a disadvantage and they will reevaluate some aspects of their relationship. Evie is evolving and developing, she’s learning about her strengths and just what she is capable of doing and being.

There’s drama and tons of character development. This is the book that moves so many of the storylines forward and further uncovers the story of Evie’s mission and everyone else’s role in that plot.
